Historical Society of Quincy and Adams County

Resource Center
Here is where you will find information about the Historical Society’s Library, Speakers Bureau and research assistance.
Welcome to the Visitors Center and Resources
The Visitors Center houses our “History shop,” offices, library and meeting room.
The Society’s extensive library features many important books and records of early Quincy and Adams County. They include city directories, histories and other original source documents. The library is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday-Friday.
The “History Shop” is our retail gift shop. Here you will find Quincy souvenirs and original hand-crafted selections reminiscent of the 19th century. Here, too, are books by local authors, framed art, postcards and decorative items about local history and architecture.
Members are entitled to a 10 percent discount on items.

Speakers Bring Local Content and Context to You

What was it like in the day thousands of packet boats landed at Quincy’s river front each year? How did Adams County citizens react to the Civil War and to the great World Wars? Why was Quincy the Mecca for stove manufacturing and, later, the electronics industry.
Our speakers, who have studied these topics, can bring you these stories and more. For information about arranging for an HSQAC program, click here.
